Updated September 2024

I don't use this website much any more, usually preferring to use my fiction.charlesmoffat.com website instead, but this blog still has its uses.

For one thing, I can use it to promote my magazine, Peasant Magazine, which features fantasy authors and historical fiction authors (and historical fantasy authors, obviously). Each issue also includes 1 short story set in Korovia, for my fans.

I can also use this blog to promote Arcane Tomes, an indie fantasy bookstore that is open to all indie fantasy authors and their books.

So yes, korovia.blogspot.com still has its uses even if I don't use the Korovia domain name any more.

Today, for example, I updated the top of the blog, giving it a Bookshelf in a similar manner to Arcane Tomes, and I have updated a number of the links and visual aspects of this blog.

And in the future I am planning to release the Korovia Roleplaying Game system, and I can use this blog again to promote the KRPG.

And I should really be posting updates on here regarding new book releases. I am releasing 5 or 6 new books per year (usually 1 novel + 4 or more short stories/novellas), so this blog can be an extra source for marketing those books.

I am releasing a new novelette on October 1st 2024: The Worgs of Winter, which is the 5th book in my Chronicles of Korovia series. Each story/novel in the Chronicles series features dogs and/or wolves in some manner, and each story interconnects with other Korovia novels and short stories. Eg. Soljargon, one of my fan favourite characters, makes an appearance in The Worgs of Winter.

And lastly, since much of my marketing is done via social media these days I should also be plugging my social media accounts, including:

facebook.com/charlesmoffat.fans

instagram.com/charles.moffat

ko-fi.com/charlesmoffat

threads.com/charles.moffat

twitter.com/charlesmoffat / x.com/charlesmoffat

youtube.com/@CharlesMoffatAuthor

The social media accounts that I use the most I have marked in BOLD. Obviously due to the nature of social media these accounts are changing regularly, as is which ones I frequently make use of. For example, I find I am using Twitter/X less often these days.

So yes, I really should be using this blog more often for marketing purposes.

Happy Yuletide Season / Updates to Authors page

Happy Yuletide Season!

We have updated the Authors page significantly, adding images of the various books by authors and links to where they can be purchased.

Winter Festivals in Korovia

Druids travel about the land following the Winter Solstice giving out gifts usually made from Holly and Mistletoe. Common folk refer to this period as the "Holly Days".

Common gifts include Holly Water / Tea (useful as a digestive and also combats rheumatism, fever, high blood pressure), wooden toys for children (wooden swords, shields, bows, arrows, etc), herbal teas, Holly symbols, superstitious protective charms, and a variety of other gifts.

Peasants and nobles alike also exchange gifts, but it is the wandering druids who really draw the attention of children as the druids give out sweets such as candied apples, hot taffy, candied nuts, caramel corn, maple syrup candy and more.

Adults frequently celebrate the Winter Solstice and Holly Days with a variety of games, sporting competitions (darts is really popular as it can be played indoors), and a significant amount of drinking of vodka, mulled wine and spiced ales.

Updated Lavordia Entry + New Lavordia Map

The entry in the different kingdoms of the World has been updated for the Kingdom of Lavordia.

Plus added a new Map of Lavordia in the Maps section.

Plus a new map of Korovia's south-west.

Korovia.com overdue for updates.

Here it is December 2015 and Korovia.com is getting some overdue updates. Why you may ask?

#1. Amazon changed their system for people linking to specific Kindle books via iframes. Those iframes no longer work, so the website looked like there was errors on it. If you see additional iframes we haven't removed please leave a comment below as to the location of any we missed removing.

#2. Since those links are being removed, we need to add new links to replace them. These will be normal static links.

#3. We are looking for NEW Authors looking to add their name to Korovia's list of authors. If you are a fantasy or horror writer looking for a shared fantasy world, Korovia might just right for your writing.

#4. When we first started we added a number of Authors to our page listing all the authors - some of whom were people who expressed an interest in writing a book and declared that they had already begun the writing process, but some of them never finished writing / moved on to other projects. Thus (1) any of those authors who never finished writing are going to be removed from our list of authors, and (2) new authors joining won't be added to the list of authors until AFTER they finish writing a book and posting it on Kindle, Kobo or similar eBook service.

#5. More books are coming from our existing authors. So stay tuned as we will be updating Korovia.com with new books as they come out.

Korovia Gods / Cosmology Updated

December 30th 2014

Today I updated the Cosmology to include descriptions on many other lesser gods that had previously been left out on the website.

I also added a Global Map of Aoerth to the Maps page. I have been working on and off on the global map for over a year. The map is to scale and comparable to our Earth, and I made it so that in the future if I decide to expand the scope of the world (in terms of different kingdoms and geo-politics), the global map is already done and I will just need to determine what I want and where. I have already determined that in certain parts of the world magic works / behaves differently and that creatures / monsters and plant life in other parts of the globe will remarkably different. The religions of those regions will bear similarities (often different names or personas), and thus may be considered to be different religions under singular gods. eg. The snake god Set might exist in other regions, but with a different name and revered as healing god.

If you have questions about any of these gods or the maps, just ask.

Sincerely,
Charles Moffat
